  1. New season of PBS show "Austin City Limits" to kick off with set from Jack White (UPDATE)

When it comes to live music on television, <a href=&quot;http://acltv.com/" target="_blank">"Austin City Limits"</a> is top of the heap. Trailblazing guests, unfussy production and intimate, restrained camera work combined to make this long-running series a broadcast treasure.

  6. Stand Performs at Arch Street Tavern in Hartford on Aug. 24

It's going to be Friday before you know it. So hang on, and imagine yourself at Arch Street Tavern, whiskey in hand, prepared for Stand (pictured), a Dublin, Ireland-based quartet who've obviously paid close attention to their country's pop music trends in recent (and not-so-recent) years, while picking up a few tricks that are all their own. Ireland practically invented scruffy beards, awesome hats and all that other stuff we've come to associate with hipsters. (Tell me Bon Iver wouldn't blend into a Dublin street scene.) The members of Stand bring with them a big sound, and they've sold out some pretty prestigious halls, so quaff that whiskey and enjoy.

  12. 'The Voice' recap: Make-or-break time

Monday night&rsquo;s episode of &ldquo; The Voice&rdquo; seemed to be make-or-break for many of the contestants, and with the semi-finals upon us, and just three episodes to go, the clear winners are finally breaking free from the pack. The rest? Well &hellip; let&rsquo;s just say I had some pretty visceral reactions to the remaining eight contestants.

  14. Q&A: Flux Pavilion
