1. Tyler Pleased With Privacy Bill

The always uninhibited Steven Tyler has opened up about the passage of Hawaii’s so-called Steven Tyler Act, which protects the privacy of vacationing celebrities from prying lenses. The Aerosmith frontman, who owns a home on Maui, told Billboard, “They (photographers) chase my kids and get in the way of traffic. They’re just looking for a taste of blood. They’re not gonna get it.” Asked how he plans to exercise his expanded privacy, Tyler said, “Now at least (bandmate) Joe(Perry) and I can go to Maui and walk around naked in the back lawn and write some crazy songs.”

  5. Steven Tyler Called Racist By Idol Judge

According to The Wall Street Journal, Nicki Minaj, first-time judge on "American Idol" is sparring with former judgeSteven Tyler of Aerosmith fame. The two performers had a bit of a Twitter spat that ended in Minaj calling Tyler a racist. It went like this: Tyler: "If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying." Minaj: "Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven't seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!" She continued. "I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven't done anything to you. That's a racist comment," she said in a follow-up. She later added, "You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f*** yourself and worry about yourself babe." That seemed to end it. Nobody from Tyler's camp has yet said a word about it.

  9. Tyler Breaks Up With Fiance Following Six Year Relationship

It appears being a judge on a television singing contest is toxic to an engagement. Aerosmith frontman and former American Idol judge Steven Tyler and fiancé Erin Brady have decided to call it quits after a six-year relationship and a one-year engagement. A source told the New York Post, “Steven was just not that nice to her in the end.” News of one half of the legendary Toxic Twins ending his engagement comes just days after pop star and ex The X Factor judge Britney Spears announced she and her fiancé Jason Trawick had called off their engagement. 11. Aerosmith Bassist Latest to Mull Memoir

Add Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton’s name to the list of band members who have already written, or are currently penning their memoir. When asked in a recent interview whether he would do as Steven Tyler and Joey Kramer have already done, and Joe Perry is reportedly doing, and write his autobiography, Hamilton said, “I always thought, ‘OK, if you have two or three band members already having their book out, who wants to read another one?’ I think maybe there is some perspective that I could bring to it that may not have been covered by the other three. I do have a lot that I’ve written over the years in terms of journaling.”

  13. Tyler Took 'Spinal Tap' To Task For Being Too Real

Rare interviews conducted in the 80s by former record executive Joe Smith and recently donated to the Library of Congress are starting to be digitalized and uploaded on their website. In one, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler admits that during the height of the band’s stardom in the 70s, it was hard to find outrageous things to do because they’d already been done. He said, “I found the most outrageous things I asked for, would’ve thought of asking for, had already taken place the week before with some other group. That movie [This is Spinal Tap] bummed me out, because I thought, ‘How dare they? That’s all real, and they’re mocking it.’”

  17. Rockers React To Hurricane Through Twitter

As Hurricane Sandy leaves a path of destruction across the East Coast of North America, classic rockers have taken to Twitter to share their support with those affected by the storm, and to urge their fans to remain safe as flooding and high winds continue to affect much of America and Canada. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler sent his thoughts and prayers to all his followers in harm’s way, as did Motley Crue members Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx. Sammy Hagar, whose Atlantic City Beach Bar and Grill sits directly in the storm’s path, reminds his fans that buildings can be repaired and urges them to focus on personal safety.

  19. Criss Hurt By Aerosmith Slur On Kiss

Former Kiss drummer Peter Criss says he’s hurt by Steven Tyler’s slating of the glam rock icons. The Aerosmith singer last week labelled Kiss a “comic book” band and said their work sometimes “offended” him. That led Paul Stanley to bite back, suggesting Tyler needed a “reality check” and he was only mouthing off in order to promote his band’s new album. Now Criss, who was a member of Kiss when the bands toured together in 2003, reveals he’s saddened by the comments – especially since he has fond memories of being on the road with Aerosmith. But he singles guitarist Joe Perry out for criticism, and suggests Tyler has jumped on his colleague’s bandwagon. The drummer says: “In my book I talk about our tour. I found those guys to be sweethearts. I felt honoured to be on stage with Aerosmith. I think they’re one of the greatest rock and roll bands in the world. “I could see how Steven loves Steven, and he always wanted the spotlight over him. He’s always, ‘Look at me, look at me.’ That’s okay – I had one of those in my band. Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford treated my wife like a million bucks. “Joe was a jerk. I say it in my book: he had a thing; he just didn’t like us. He called us clowns and he didn’t really like playing with us. So now I hear Steven jumped on the bandwagon, and it kind of hurts my feelings because I really like the guys.

  21. Cheap Trick Sticks With Aerosmith

Aerosmith has announced Cheap Trick will continue to stay on the road during the second leg of The Global Warming Tour. Cheap Trick will be opening every show, and frontman Robin Zander told Rolling Stone, “It’s cool, because we’re out with a band that we’ve known, and they’re not afraid to have us out with them.” Zander added that having to compete with Steven Tyler every night is “like having a big brother, where you’re always trying to kick his ass. I’m pretty confident, but it’s fun to watch him.”

  23. Aerosmith's Joe Perry On "Sons Of Guns"

Though he’s much more comfortable holding a six-string axe, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is apparently pretty handy with a cannon, too. Eager to restore one of the toys in his attic, Perry is set to appear on the September 19 “Three Cannons and a Rock Star” episode of Discovery Channel’s hit series Sons of Guns in which the Red Jacket Firearms crew takes on the task of restoring the rocker’s antique black powder Lyle cannon.
