  1. VH Reunion Talk Flatters Former Bassist

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony says he&rsquo;s &ldquo;flattered&rdquo; that frontman David Lee Roth wants him back in the band. An original lineup reunion remains unlikely as Eddie Van Halen continues to move forward with his son Wolfgang playing bass. But Roth recently said he&rsquo;d love to see Anthony back in the fold &ndash; not least because his voice adds a great deal to the band&rsquo;s sound. Now Anthony tells Blabbermouth: &ldquo;It was flattering to hear Dave talk like that. He never used to talk like that when we were all playing together! &ldquo;But hey &ndash; I really don&rsquo;t know what to say to that. It was flattering that he said that. And, obviously, I&rsquo;m the kind of guy that&hellip; water under the bridge. I don&rsquo;t hold any kind of grudges for anything, and you never know what will happen at any time.&rdquo; The bassist fell foul of the guitarist&rsquo;s temper in the mid-2000s and was replaced by Wolfgang for the reunion with Roth. It&rsquo;s thought the disagreement stemmed from Anthony remaining in touch with ex singer Sammy Hagar, with whom he later formed Chickenfoot. He says: &ldquo;At this point in your life and career and whatever, it&rsquo;s more about the friendship, and just people. And if the music side of it happens, if that comes about, all the better &ndash; but that&rsquo;s not what it&rsquo;s really about at this point.&rdquo;</span>

  2. 2013 ACM's - Biggest Viewing Audience In 15 Years

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">There were a whole lot of viewers who were crying along with Miranda Lambert when she won Female Vocalist of the Year and grooving to the beat of Lady Antebellum&lsquo;s performance of &lsquo;Downtown&lsquo; during the 2013 ACM Awards. In fact, the 48th annual show had over 15 million viewers (15.38 million, to be exact), posting the largest audience since 1998. Country music&rsquo;s biggest party of the year soared to the top of Sunday night&rsquo;s television ratings, with CBS beating out the 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament, NBA Basketball and MLB Baseball. It goes to show that the ACMs have something for everyone, as sports fans got their athletic fix through the Band Perry&lsquo;s high-energy dancing, while fans of &lsquo;The Voice&rsquo; were able to see coach Blake Shelton perform his fan-favorite hit &lsquo;Sure Be Cool if You Did.&rsquo; Plus, there was a great shock factor of seeing Luke Bryan win Entertainer of the Year. If you&rsquo;re a statistics guru, you&rsquo;ll also be glad to know the 2013 ACMs had the highest number of households and adults ages 18-49 since 2001 and adults ages 25-54 since 2000. The April 7 broadcast also marked the first time the ACM Awards have beaten the same season&rsquo;s Country Music Awards in these ratings categories. Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, was floored by the news, saying, &ldquo;Wow, we knew we had a great plan to get the word out to music fans to watch, but the fact that they embraced us on this level just makes us want to reach higher next year.&rdquo; The 2013 ACMs were such a smashing success, it&rsquo;s no wonder that everyone wanted to get in on the action and see their favorite country stars perform, accept awards and have a whole lot of fun.</span>

  3. Band Perry's "Pioneer" Takes Top Spot

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">The Band Perry&rsquo;s sophomore album, Pioneer, gave the group their best sales week to date, as it landed at #1 on the country music charts. This is the group&rsquo;s first debut on top of the charts, and it is no surprise the album did so well with songs like their current single, &ldquo;Done,&rdquo; on the project. Kimberly Perry admits the song has a bit of adlib on it, as the&ldquo;grunt&rdquo; at the end was recorded out of frustration. &ldquo;I think I had just messed up on a vocal and I was like, &lsquo;Ugh!&rsquo; You know? So, and then Dan our producer ended up keeping it. But, that&rsquo;s the one part that a lot of people talk about.&rdquo; Pioneer also debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, after selling over 129,000 copies within the first week.     Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Fogerty, whose songs have influenced countless current and classic country acts as well, will promote the May 28 release of his appropriately titled album Wrote A Song For Everyone on two high profile television events.   7. Eric Church Leads The Pack at ACM Awards

    Eric Church is headed to this week&rsquo;s 48th Annual ACM Awards, with the most nominations out of any artist! The singer is up for seven awards, including Male Vocalist and Album of the Year, for Chief. Eric believes that the fans are responsible for making his music standout. &ldquo;I think it's a testament to really fans that believed in the music and loved the music and told people about the music. I think it's truly because of the fans and because they did something that's, I think, really going to be judged as pretty special and pretty unique that we were able to get this done.&quot; Eric is also nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for &ldquo;The Only Way I Know,&rdquo; with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, along with Single and Song of the Year for &ldquo;Springsteen.&rdquo; He is twice nominated for Song of the Year as both an artist and composer.     <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">It&rsquo;s officially album release day for The Band Perry, as their highly anticipated sophomore album, Pioneer, is now available! The project is full of songs that the group created, after taking off with their self-titled debut album a few years ago. Band member Kimberly Perry feels like it&rsquo;s full of tunes that everyone can relate to. &ldquo;I think I just really want the fans to know that Pioneer has been the soundtrack of the last two years of our lives. It truly are the things that we&rsquo;ve been thinking about and living out in real time.   9. Hayes Preps New Music After Scoring #1 Hit

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">There is no way to stop Hunter Hayes, as the singer claimed his second consecutive #1 single this week, with &ldquo;Somebody&rsquo;s Heartbreak.&rdquo; It&rsquo;s one of the 12 tracks on his debut album that Hunter had a hand in writing. He admits that it was a talent he honed in on after planting his roots in Music City. &ldquo;When I moved to Nashville, I was looking forward to learning how to write a song, you know? Learning the right ways&mdash;and the biggest thing I&rsquo;ve learned from them, is that everybody writes differently. And everybody&rsquo;s got a different process and everybody&rsquo;s gonna go about it a different way. And it may feel even weird at some points how differently two people come at writing a song, but how successful it can be when you each find your own way, and for a long time I was trying to emulate what they do, and then I realized, &lsquo;no, no, no, that&rsquo;s what they do.   11. Legendary Producer Phil Ramone Dies

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Phil Ramone died Saturday at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He was 79. His son Matt confirmed his father was hospitalized in late February with an aortic aneurysm. Ramone won 14 Grammys and worked with a wide range of artists over his 50 years in the music business, including Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Chicago,Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, The Band, Donny Hathaway, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett, Kenny Loggins, Barry Manilow, Dionne Warwick, Luciano Pavarotti and Phoebe Snow, among countless others. Ramone&rsquo;s work on Charles&rsquo; Genius Loves Company, Joel&rsquo;s 52nd Street and Simon&rsquo;s Still Crazy After All These Years helped those collections capture Grammys for Album of the Year. Ramone came to the United States from his native South Africa at the age of 10 to study violin at Julliard. At 18, he opened A&amp;R Recording Studios in New York City.</span>

  12. Miranda & Blake To Open Bed & Breakfast

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Tishomingo, Okla. may not seem like a travel destination for most, but superstar couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are turning it into a must-see spot for county music fans, as they&rsquo;re planning to open a bed and breakfast. The couple recently purchased a building on Main Street in their hometown, and according to In Touch, the &lsquo;Over You&rsquo; singer was overheard saying, &ldquo;We plan on turning it into a bed-and-breakfast.&rdquo; Nothing sounds more charming than the two singers dishing up eggs and scones together! It seems the $180,000 purchase is a great investment, as the location is situated across the street from Lambert&rsquo;s clothing boutique, the Pink Pistol. According to the magazine, a source claims that &ldquo;people have been coming from as far as California and Missouri and Texas &mdash; they drive from all over&rdquo; to visit the shop. Shelton and Lambert have certainly proven their business smarts with successful music careers, and that will no doubt carry over into their bed and breakfast. Gathering what we know about the couple, it&rsquo;s an assumption it&rsquo;d be pet-friendly, given their love for animals, and it will have plenty girly touches, as Lambert has already shown her affinity for pink. Whenever the bed and breakfast opens in Tishomingo &mdash; which has just 3,000 residents &mdash; you can bet there will be plenty of fans making their reservations, ready for a night on the(tiny)town.</span>
