9. Review: 'This Is the End' a towering inferno of fun

Judgment Day comes to Hollywood with a vengeance in "This Is the End." Jonah Hill is in bed with the devil — in James Franco's mansion. An inferno rages in the front yard, and movie star egos are filleted for fun. When the apocalyptic comedy gets...

11. 'This is the End' is rude, crude -- and funny ★★★ 1/2

The "Hangover" movies, even the third one no one defends, barely qualify as comedies in the traditional sense. They're more like grimy action pictures with a joke or two tossed in to avoid the charge of false labeling. Their ugliness of spirit compounds a disinterest in verbal jokes and a reliance on brutality (which isn't the same as artfully violent slapstick), and nobody involved seems to care about making the talk snappy or keeping a scene moving forward. Whatever. They're hits. The public hath spoken, even as the public groweth weary.

17. Can Raunchy Comedy 'This Is the End' Bring Hip to Heartland Box Office?

Reuters
Jun 12 (TheWrap.com) - "You'll laugh until you throw up," warns Sony's worldwide president of distribution Rory Bruer about his studio's new comedy "This Is the End." He was kidding, hopefully, but that take seems appropriate for Seth Rogen's raunchy and...

19. 'This Is the End': Seth Rogen brings about star-studded apocalypse

** (out of four)
