3. Jack Black’s ‘Bailout’ a step into Winterbottom country

Frankly My Dear - Orlando Sentinel
For anybody who notes that Jack Black's films with no name directors often turn out awful and those he does with the likes of Richard Linklater and Michel Gondry (We'll skip over Peter Jackson) aren't half bad, the news that Black has signed to join...

First filmed in the mid-1970s, novelist Jim Thompson's melodrama about a deputy sheriff who's secretly a serial killer may seem less unique in the age of television's "Dexter," but it remains a potent vehicle for its main star ... in this case, Casey Affleck.

9. The Killer Inside Me–Winterbottom’s controversial serial killer thriller

Frankly My Dear» Orlando Sentinel – Frankly My Dear
I've been a Michael Winterbottom fan for years, ever since Welcome to Sarajevo, certainly. He's not always controversial (The Claim, A Cock and Bull Story, 24 Hour Party People), but he's always interesting. His latest, an adaptation of a Jim Thomspon...

11. Russell Brand tends to live at the eye of the storm

RUSSELL BRAND is not a rock star; he just plays one in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," the newest movie from the Judd Apatow stable. He does, however, have the goth bling, eyeliner and black vest over a white shirt opened below the point of modesty. And there's the hair: Meticulously wild, long and libertine. It's easy to see this British stand-up comic and radio and TV host as the love child of the Cure and Prince.
