9. 'Lola Versus' review: An occasionally effective movie at war with itself

**1/2 (out of four)
**1/2 (out of four) Does an all-over-the-place character necessitate an all-over-the-place movie? I don’t think so, though “Lola Versus” almost succeeds in embracing life’s messiness even when the film possesses no more...

11. Emotions run rampant in 'Lola Versus' ✭✭ 1/2

"Lola Versus" is a comic case study of a yearlong emotional meltdown for an about-to-turn-30, angsty, artsy New Yorker. While that might not sound entertaining, it is made so by star Greta Gerwig, who inhabits Lola with an endearing ease.

17. Battleship

Mr. Board was bored watching a movie based on a board game. Although I think it’s false to keep stating in reviews and press releases that this is based on the Hasboro game. It’s an alien invasion film with battleships. Other than missiles shaped similar to the game pieces, this has nothing to do with the game; unless my memory from playing it with my brother 30 years ago is wrong. We’d merely yell out “F8,” and we’d hear “hit” or “miss.”

23. Q&A: 'The Future' star/writer/director Miranda July's ideas are at least as valuable as yours

Writer-director Miranda July’s “The Future” is this year’s second movie to vocalize the thoughts of a pet (a cat named Paw Paw voiced by July). The first: a dog with audible opinions in “Beginners,” written and directed by July’s husband, Mike Mills.
