1. 'Cars 2': Movie Review

KickingTires
???Cars 2??? is a faster, funnier film than its predecessor, and that's in part because racecar Lightning McQueen plays second fiddle to Tow Mater, the affable, bumbling tow truck. While ???Cars 2??? has a different visual feel from the first......

3. Stars pick the directors they want to watch

Let's say there's a row of beautiful movie theaters, and the marquee of each one reads, "New film by (name of filmmaker here)." And let's say there's no other information about the film itself. Which one would you choose? 5. 'Hugo' a tribute so intense, it needed 3-D — 3 stars

Rich and stimulating even when it wanders, director Martin Scorsese's first 3-D effort, "Hugo," takes place mostly within the confines of a railway station modeled on Montparnasse. The story, developed by screenwriter John Logan from Brian Selznick's graphic novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," ranges beyond the station. But every locale in Scorsese's vision of 1931 Paris looks and feels like another planet. The filmmaker embraces storybook artifice as wholeheartedly as he relays the tale's lessons in the importance of film preservation.
