  1. Crime and Punishment: Yale football players allegedly assault 60-year old Occupy New Haven resident

<strong>Damage to Fairfield University dorms</strong> for which no student has been caught or fessed up has totaled $51,000 this academic year, reports the student newspaper <em>The Mirror</em>. The university splits the cost of repairing such &quot;unattributed damage" between every student living on the floor on which it happens and adds it to their bills. <strong>"The single most common charge is vomit cleanup,"</strong> said an associate director of residence life. One particular floor, the third in all-male Jogues Hall, has caused 20 percent of the total cost, due to smashed mirrors, broken exit signs and, of course, puke. <em>The Mirror's</em> intrepid reporter visited the floor on a Wednesday morning and found a few overturned garbage cans and vomit-stained toilets. Sophomore Kevin Slattery explained the cycle of frustration and destruction thusly: "When life gives you lemons, as in Jogues, you make lemonade, as in breaking stuff."

  15. National Signing Day for Local High School Athletes

Today is the day local high school student-athletes can make their college choices official. National Signing Day allows local stars to accept scholarship offers from college programs. It is just as rewarding for the college coaches because they now know who will be coming to play for them next year.

  23. Why are Hartford and Bridgeport on a Brookings Institute list of the wealthiest metropolitan areas?

When the Brookings Institution came out with a listing of the 200 wealthiest metropolitan areas in the entire freaking world, it seemed shockingly weird to see Hartford at the very top and Bridgeport just below at No. 5.
