23. Crime & Punishment: Medical Worker Arrested For Showing Her Husband Adam Lanza's Body

"I want to say I'm truly sorry for the mistakes I've made in my life," said former state Sen. Ernie Newton as he campaigned to regain his old seat last May. Those mistakes were spelled out in the corruption charges that landed Newton in prison in 2005. After his four-year sentence, Newton surprisingly ran to regain his old seat with a message "about forgiveness, redemption and opportunity." Last week, he was arrested on charges of campaign finance fraud, reports the Connecticut Post. Elections officials say that Newton failed to raise the $15,000 a candidate needs to be eligible for public financing by $500, so — as he was spouting off about "redemption" — he falsified campaign finance records.
