  1. Planet Green being rebranded Destination America starting May 28

    Channel Guide Magazine
I had recently been wondering about the change in programming Planet Green has undergone, and what that meant for the future of the network. It had seemed to stray from its original mission of programming about ecological matters to become a catchall...

Say you were having an intimate dinner party. And say Emeril Lagasse happened to be the chef. That's the feel the cooking superstar wants with "Emeril's Table," his weekday Hallmark Channel series that premieres Monday, Sept. 26. In each episode, Lagasse...

  5. Summer TV season winds down with August premieres

You wouldn't know it by the long list of series premieres and specials, but the summer TV season is winding down. Before the broadcast networks start rolling out their fall shows, Cinemax will premiere its first series, "Strike Back," Discovery will launch another Shark Week and the "Jersey Shore" gang returns to MTV.

Anyone who has set foot in Shareen Vintage, a vast downtown warehouse space lined with endless racks of sparkly cocktail frocks, gauzy hippie robes and an eclectic mix of other garments, will hardly be surprised to learn that the shop's owner, Shareen Mitchell, is starring in a new reality show, "Dresscue Me," premiering Tuesday on Discovery's Planet Green channel.

  9. Fashion a great fit for reality TV

In December 2004, TV viewers started to tune in to a reality show that documented the dramatic details of producing a runway collection, and with it came a familiarity with infectious little catchphrases such as &quot;make it work, people" and "<i>auf Wiedersehen</i>." "Project Runway" lifted a curtain on the fashion industry, bringing usually behind-the-scenes individuals &#8212; magazine editors, stylists and designers &#8212; to millions of homes. It offered competition, drama, lively characters and eye candy in the form of sometimes gorgeous clothes as well as the models who wear them.

  11. March 2011 TV calendar: A look at upcoming premieres, specials

We're well into TV's midseason and the onslaught of series premieres or finales, special events and returning shows no sign of letting up. My top &quot;must-see" beginning in March? The final 10 episodes of "Stargate Universe," which begin March 7 on Syfy. I've seen the first three; they're top notch with riveting portrayals of Destiny crew members, some mind-bending turns of events and downright incredible special effects. Here's a complete March TV calendar, or at least as complete as I can make it at this point. I'll keep adding to it as I learn about more new TV coming our way.

  13. New CD is about Aberdeen

You can tell Joe West's new CD has a local emphasis. One of the songs is called “Goin' Down to Kessler's.” That number is the opening song on West's album, called “Aberdeen, S.D.” In the song, a broken-hearted young man heads to Kessler's to pick up...

  19. GLAAD goes for ‘Glee,â€Philip Morris,’ ‘Girl Who Played with Fire’…and ‘Burlesque’

Frankly My Dear - Orlando Sentinel
Yes, there's a gay cliche or two to be gleaned from this year's GLAAD Award nominations. And no, Liza didn't earn an honor for shaking her hip-replaced groove thing in “Sex and the City #2.” Some good films such as “The Kids are All...
