She is a member of the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame who started her career as a police reporter for the City News Bureau of Chicago. That's the famed bootcamp for reporters known for its slogan, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out."

Woody Allen once laughed at her jokes. Actor Jimmy Stewart picked her up off the floor. And she is believed to be the only reporter President George W. Bush ever told, "F--- you!" To be fair, it should be noted that this happened before he became president. But that's another story.

Warren's husband, Wade Nelson, is a Chicago communications consultant. They have two sons, Ted and Emmett Nelson, and two dogs, Dash and Jelly Roll Warren.
