1. Angus T. Jones of 'Two and a Half Men': My show is 'filth'

Staff reporter
For a comedy, "Two and a Half Men" on CBS brings a lot of drama. Angus T. Jones, the 19-year-old actor who has played the "Half" man, Jake Harper, since 2003, calls the sitcom "filth" in a taped interview that recounts his religious experience. "Jake...

3. Northwestern tackles the career (and controversies) of Tyler Perry

There are no sacred cows on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." The show happily skewers its own network along with any number of pop-culture phenomena, and last week's episode was no different, with a running joke aimed squarely in the direction of Tyler Perry, featuring scenes from a movie (must I say it? fictitious!) called "Tracy Jordan's Aunt Phatso Goes to the Hospital Goes to Jail."

5. Three great sitcom sets for last-minute holiday shoppers

I am going to use the excuse that it's Christmas next week and you may have some shopping left to do to review three DVD sets I have been meaning to write about for months. (Something came up.) All are comedies. Two are complete sets and one is the first installment in what will eventually be a complete set, if you buy enough of volume one to economically justify a volume two. Artistically, there is no question of justification: All are brilliant and a little strange: Two -- "The Sarah Silverman Program" and Chris Elliott's "Get a Life" -- play with sitcom conventions; the other is plain unconventional.

7. Top TV of 2012: Poehler's Leslie Knope shines on 'Parks and Rec'

Amy Poehler has been a comedian of note for some time now — it's already 11 years since she joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" (and three and change since she left it), and before that there was "The Upright Citizens Brigade" on Comedy Central and appearances as Andy Richter's little sister, in braces and pigtails, on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."
