Tori James

Born and raised in the Midwest, you might find it funny that Tori ventured to Houston, TX to record a song and video, called 2:00 Love, which was nominated for a Texas Music and Video Award in 1984! She then took the show on the road and ended up on the West Coast for a few years. The wanderlust in her then sparked her desire to travel all over the USA. After a few years and many miles, Tori decided it was time to come home. Ahhh the early 90's meant a new direction, so she sat and pondered long and hard about what she wanted to do when she grew up...and in an instant it was obvious...a radio DJ. PERFECT! It combines her love of music with her intense need to communicate with others and "be the fun".

Tori has spent 15 grand years on the Michiana Airwaves! Her first full-time job was on the classic rock station before moving to Sunny 101.5 for a part time job. She's done it all as she moved from part-time to full-time including nights, then afternoons. After 13 years with Sunny 101.5, her current home is middays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and then from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. She hosts the 10:45 Coffee Break Contest each weekday at 10:45 a.m.

Tori has two great passions in life: treasure hunting and mosaic art work.

She remembers the EXACT date she got her first metal detector: July 1, 1998. She had BIG plans and immediately went to one of her favorite places -- the library -- to research lost treasures and historical sites. "No cache was secret or safe," she says. Tori has found some historic arrowheads, and beautiful gems among many other things. And she continues to search for diamonds at the mines in Arkansas!

Tori's mosaic art makes beauty out of discard. She takes the broken shards of glass, pottery and plates and makes them beautiful again in the form of mosaic pieces for the home. She says, "playing with shapes and colors makes my soul happy."
