Jason Aldean has been tapped to participate in a new E! reality singing contest that premieres July 9th on the network. Opening Act is the brainchild of American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe. In the show, producers will scour the internet for emerging artists and give them a chance to open for big-time acts like Jason, who says the opportunity is priceless for a new artist. “What it does, I mean especially for a new artist, it gives you a platform to launch your career. You know, you’re able to go in and play for more people in one night than you would play to in six months on your own, so it’s a big deal.” Other singers reportedly involved in Opening Act include Rod Stewart, Nicki Minaj and LMFAO to name a few. Jason’s first gig as an opening act on a major tour was with Rascal Flatts on their 2006 Me & My Gang tour.
