Steve Jobs has died at age 56, according to Apple Inc. Jobs passed away on Wednesday, October 5, after battling cancer and other health issues. He was the co-founder and former CEO of the company.

At the time of publication, the homepage of Apple.com has paid tribute to Jobs with a black and white portrait, marked with “Steve Jobs 1955-2011.” “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being,” the website states. “Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

“Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve,” Apple added in a press release announcing that Steve Jobs is dead.

Several stars, including country singers, have already reacted to the innovator's death on Twitter. LeAnn Rimes, Chely Wright and Jaron Lowenstein (Jaron and the Long Road to Love) are among the singers who have thus far shared their condolences, and more tweets from country stars will be added as reactions to this sad news surface.
