Highlights

Named head coach of the Orlando Magic on June 7, 2007, following the two-year tenure of Brian Hill. Van Gundy previously spent 12 seasons with the Miami Heat, first as an assistant under Pat Riley, then becoming head coach for two-plus seasons. In Miami, he finished with a 112-73 record, leading the Heat to a 59-23 record and into the Eastern Conference final, where they lost to the Detroit Pistons. Riley replaced him early the next season (11-10). Prior to joining the NBA, Van Gundy was the head coach at the University of Wisconsin.
