  1. Today's Buzz: Is Biden an asset for Obama?

Debate has picked up lately over whether Vice President Joe Biden is an asset for President Barack Obama as he runs for re-election. A Gallup poll showed slightly more Americans disapprove than approve of him. Biden embarrassed Obama this month when he pre-empted the president in declaring his support for gay marriage. He's been a regular source of gaffes in public appearances. But Biden also is considered more effective than Obama in connecting with blue-collar workers, whose votes could make the difference in crucial states like Ohio. He's also a more experienced and battle-tested politician than Obama. Do you think Biden helps or hurts Obama's chances? Should Obama consider dropping Biden for Hillary Clinton? Do most voters really care who a candidate's running mate is? Talk about it!

A presidential campaign is never just two people slugging it out on the national stage. It is always a battle of narratives, and the struggle, when all is said and done, is over which candidate can craft the most persuasive story.

  9. Which kind of capitalism? A debate for Obama and Romney

"This is not a distraction, this is what this campaign is going to be about," President Obama said Monday at the NATO summit. The "this" in question is Mitt Romney's tenure at Bain Capital and what it says about Romney's economic vision for the country.

  13. Generational nonsense at commencement time

This is the season of generational twaddle. At graduation ceremonies across the country, politicians, authors, actors and businessmen take to the stage to tell young people they are fantastic simply because they are young. This year, the ritual is more pathetic than usual because there's a presidential election in the offing. And because the current occupant of the White House won in 2008 in no small part due to his success with the "youth vote," he is desperate for them to repeat their blunder.

SAN FRANCISCO — In 1958, the Gallup Poll asked Americans whether they approved or disapproved of marriage between blacks and whites. The response was overwhelming: 94% were opposed, a sentiment that held for decades. It took nearly 40 years until a majority of those surveyed said marriage between people of different skin colors was acceptable.

  23. Super PACs: How did the Supreme Court not see this coming?

Maybe what this country needs on the Supreme Court is a real politician or at least a sensible political scientist or two. Perhaps they would help the court's majority understand how it has allowed unlimited big-donor money to contaminate and almost destroy our politics.
