Eva "Bertie" Roberta Lenox, 86, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Beardsley House, Elkhart, Ind. She was formerly of Alanson, Mich., and Indianapolis, Ind.
She was born to Gerald and Mabel (Kantner) LeMaster and was raised by Grace Kantner Bell and William A. Bell and became one of their family of two other children. She married Willard H. Lenox on Feb. 14, 1943.
Washington, D.C., Nick (Bethany) Myers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Mary Marie Matthews of Emporia, Va., Beverly Helm of Brownsburg; sister-in-law, Patricia Bell of Anderson; and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, William H. Bell and Robert LeMaster; sisters, Nadine Perry and Maxine LeMaster.
Eva was a hydrologic technician with soil conservation service, retiring in 1984 and previously owned a beauty shop. She was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church and the Millersville Eastern Star. She was recognized for her work in the Federal Women's Program. Her passion was cooking that she loved to share with others. She served her country as a Rosie the Riveter.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Ind., and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, service at St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. Lexington Ave., Elkhart, Ind. The Rev. Daniel Repp and the Rev.Nicholas Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Independent Order of Odd Fellows Twin Hills Cemetery, Pennville, Ind. Memorials may be directed to the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
