Basket bingo planned Sunday

Potomac Temple 28 Pythians Sisters of Maryland will hold its annual Longerberger basket bingo Sunday at Funkstown Fire Hall.

All baskets will be filled and the event will help support the Fisher House, a nonprofit facility in Rockville, Md., that temporarily houses families of returning wounded veterans.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and the games begin at 1 p.m. The event includes 20 regular games and five specials.

Tickets cost $20 and will be available at the door.

The event also will include a dessert table, tip jars, raffles and door prizes.

It will be a smoke-free event.

Woodland Garden Club plans meeting for May 9

The Woodland Garden Club will meet Wednesday, May 9, at the Airport Inn at 11:45 a.m.

Lunch will be available from the menu at the attendees’ expense.

Karen Sechler, horticulture educator for the University of Maryland Extension in Washington County, will be the featured speaker.

Her topic will be “University of Maryland Extension in Washington County. What Do We Have to Offer You?”

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 recorded a loss of 21 pounds for the week.
