You did a write up on HBO's documentary "The Weight of the Nation" in which you called our obesity epidemic a wake up call for America ("Salad bars take root," May 1). Nothing new here. The alarm bells have been sounding for a while now. I am an...

  13. How Many Concussions Are Enough?

We know there is more than enough courage around to sustain the NFL. We know there is more than enough testosterone, painkillers and, if need be, performance-enhancing drugs to keep the game running through Super Bowl MD … with or without the consent of sober and caring MDs.

  19. A lecture on childhood obesity at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich on May 8

Enough with the fast food already. This is getting ridiculous. Childhood obesity has risen exponentially in the United States and not without severe consequences. It crosses all socio-economic strata and needs to be addressed before the whole country has a collective heart attack. Dr. Diane Mickley (pictured) is an internist who specializes in the treatment of eating disorders. She'll give a lecture called Childhood Obesity: Epidemic Proportions Tuesday afternoon at the Bruce Museum as part of their "Lunch and Learn" series to help shed some light on the situation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. Preferably with some fruit or vegetables in there.
