Steppenwolf Theatre

Company is known for its acting ensemble and is well regarded in Chicago and nationwide. It was founded in 1974 by actors Terry Kinney, Jeff Perry and Gary Sinise, incorporating in the following year and finding a home in 1976 in the basement of the Immaculate Conception Church and School in Highland Park. The company moved in 1980 to a 134-seat theater at the Jane Addams Hull House Center. In 1982, "True West," with John Malkovich and Gary Sinise, was the first Steppenwolf production brought to New York.
