  1. Tom Hardy Has No Idea When 'Mad Max 4: Fury Road' Will Come Out

    Reuters
Here's May 21 (TheWrap.com) - some bad -- though not quite apocalyptic -- news for "Mad Max" fans. Tom Hardy seems none too confidant that cameras will start rolling anytime soon on "Mad Max 4: Fury Road," the proposed sequel to the iconic dystopian...

  5. Perspective: In defense of movies

The week-after-week format of television admittedly builds a depth of character study richer and deeper than most movies are capable of. But would you watch a 13- or 22-hour movie? Huge swathes of recent episodes of "Mad Men" would hit the cutting-room floor in even the most luxuriously paced movie, as the amount of wheel-spinning and narrative churning that can go into a television show would never pass with cinemagoers. Face it, the recent "Fat Betty" story line would definitely be trimmed from "Mad Men: The Movie."

  13. Review: Menacing Tom Hardy gives 'The Take' brutal bite

Keep your eyes on Tom Hardy. Before the Brit starred in films like &quot;Inception" or this year's "Warrior," he scorched the small screen as thuggish Freddie Jackson in the 2009 British miniseries "The Take" (<em>8 p.m. Friday, Encore; 3.5 stars</em>).

  19. 'This Means War' review: Bromance conquers all

It's a hit-and-miss affair as CIA agents/BFFs Chris Pine and Tom Hardy launch highly targeted competing covert love-ops in &quot; This Means War," both aiming for the heart of a consumer products tester played by Reese Witherspoon. Smart, blond, beautiful but unable to get a guy, Witherspoon's Lauren Scott is as perky and perfect as she seems, but this lovely is not what gives the movie its kick.

  21. Movie review: '50/50'

As its title unintentionally indicates, &quot;50/50" walks a very tricky line. As a comedy about a young man with cancer, it needs to be serious enough to be real as well as light enough to be funny. Though it falls off the wagon at times, it maintains its balance remarkably well.

I'm just as obsessed with lists as everyone else, so it caught my eye the other day when Time put two lists up against each other--the most rented movies at Netflix vs. the most illegally downloaded movies from TorrentFreak. The comparison was eye-...
