1. Lady A's Strawberry Guitar

A custom guitar, carved into the shape of a strawberry and used by Lady Antebellum on stage is up for auction on eBay. All three members of Lady A autographed the guitar which is now being auctioned for charity. Dave Haywood played the guitar on stage during “Our Kind of Love” at the Florida Strawberry Festival after festival organizers asked them to sign it for the auction. Money raised will go to the Redlands Christian Migrant Association and will help build new classrooms for charter schools in the area.

As a teacher, I totally agree with Morna McDermott's assessments of city school CEO Andrés Alonso's performance ("The fallacy of reform," May 18) over the past six years. She speaks the truth. Mr. Alonso has proven to be a fine salesman. Surely, the school board, mayor and state think so. They have practically given him carte blanche.
