5. Orlando Fringe review: 'James Judd's Funny Stories'

James Judd has regaled Fringegoers before with his personal travails, whether battling weight issues ("Fat Camp" or hooked on soap operas ("7 Sins"). He's back with "James Judd's Funny Stories," and though the title doesn't lie -- the stories are filled with his observational humor -- they don't quite have the snap of his previous efforts. The biggest flaw -- with the exception of the last of his four tales, the strongest -- is that none builds to a satisfying end.

7. Orlando Fringe review: 'Little Lady'

Don't think you can watch Sandrine Lafond's "Little Lady" without investing some thought. Probably a lot more thought than you want to.
Don't think you can watch Sandrine Lafond's "Little Lady" without investing some thought. Probably a lot more thought than you want to. That's because Lafond leaves it up to the audience to decide what's going on. Her Little Lady character undergoes...

9. Orlando Fringe review: 'Kirikou and the Sorceress'

The story of Kirikou begins traditionally: "A long time ago...," a narrator intones. But things quickly take an ominous turn. "The people lived in fear," she says. "Their men were disappearing one by one."

11. Lots of local Orlando music for free on Fringe outdoor stage

Soundboard Music Blog - Orlando Sentinel
From singer Kaleigh Baker to gypsy-rock of The Getbye, there's plenty of local music on the Outdoor Stage on the Grande Green Lawn at this year's Orlando International Fringe Festival. And the music is all free admission. There's an extensive schedule,...

13. Orlando Fringe review: 'You Can't Bring That Bike in Here'

Tom Snyders goes a long way to earn your goodwill. In the show I saw, he began by thanking each individual audience member for coming, clambering over seats to shake hands. Funnier than it sounds, and it’s not much exercise for Snyders. He’s put over 150,000 miles under him as the “Bicycling Comedian,” traveling to 34 countries on six continents by bike.

15. Orlando Fringe review: 'Skill Focus: Burlesque Does Fringe'

Fishnets meet funny bones in “Skill Focus: Burlesques Does Fringe.”
Fishnets meet funny bones in “Skill Focus: Burlesques Does Fringe.” I wouldn’t call it tongue in cheek, but there are laughs and light moments -- and the entertainers, who teasingly peel off clothing bit by bit, appear to have a good...

17. Orlando Fringe review: 'Tangled Ribbons, my summer of sex, drugs, and events for a cure'

Alexa Fitzpatrick’s story shows the human side of charity work, and if you’re picturing a lot of soft-focus hugging and tears – well, sure. You get that too, eventually. But in recounting her years as a coordinator with AIDS and breast-cancer fundraising rides, Fitzpatrick is primarily motivated by more hardwired emotions. Which is to say: she’s kind of horny.

19. Orlando Fringe review: 'Ride'

Award-winning playwright Eric Lane’s Ride might not be the best-written show at the Fringe, but you’ll never notice as this trio of high-school performers from Trinity Prep takes you on a journey to remember, rolling abusive parents, adultery, death, Anne Frank and almost every emotion known to adolescent girls — and that would be, hmm, all of them — into one fast-paced and often hilarious road trip of a show.

23. Orlando Fringe review: 'A Long Time Ago: The Eighties Strike Back'

Teenagers and mutants, ninjas and turtles. Parachutes and pants. Like a lot of fads from the decade that inspired it, “A Long Time Ago: The Eighties Strike Back” succeeds – when it does – by throwing a lot of cool things in a blender and creating something completely new. (Or at least colorful.)
