SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) — Police say a 32-year-old southeast Michigan woman has died after her husband strangled her during an argument over money in front of their three daughters.
The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press report police were called to the family's home in Southfield on Monday night and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Lt. Nick Loussia says her 38-year-old husband was jailed.
Loussia says the girls ages 8, 11 and 16 told investigators their mother was choked until she was unconscious. They called 911.
Loussia says the husband fled before police arrived and was arrested in Detroit.
Names of those involved weren't immediately released. Loussia says formal charges could be brought Wednesday or Thursday.
The children were placed in the care of a relative.
