This Matisse-inspired jacket epitomizes the opulence and luxury of the 1980s, an era of excess and abundance for many. Created by celebrated American designer Bill Blass for his spring 1988 line, it was worn by former Henry¿s President Rochelle Levitt of Wichita. Exaggerated shoulder pads, so popular during World War II, were revived in the 1980s and early 1990s. Everything from dresses, jackets, sweaters, even t-shirts, seemed to sport shoulder pads, a trend that has returned in recently, along with the bright, vivid colors seen in the jacket here.
