Newport News Police Officer Calvin Griffith conducts a traffic stop in southeast Newport News on Wednesday, August 8. Griffith was one of several officers who rode along with a camera crew from COPS when the television show filmed Newport News police officers for eight months in July. Griffith said the show filmed mostly foot pursuits, narcotics and a couple of fights. "I was actually pretty proud that they did come down here because it shows that we have enough exciting stuff happening down here," he said. "I felt like it was cool because it kind of put us on the same level as a lot of the bigger agencies."
