B.A.D. teacher wheelchair race champion

Each April, the Mayor's Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities sponsors the Barrier Awareness Day activity, which was at the Civic Arena and the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center. The activities gave area fifth-graders and some sixth-graders the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the barriers that people with disabilities face each day. A teacher's wheelchair race was also held, with a traveling trophy going to the winning school. Eric Vetter, a committee member and organizer of the event, gives the trophy to the Summer Jark, a fifthgrade teacher from Simmons Elementary School who was the B.A.D. teacher wheelchair race champion.
